Buying a tawa, or griddle, requires consideration of various factors to ensure you get the right one for your needs. Here’s a buying guide to help you make an informed decision:-

1. Body Material: Body Material is important. Along with food, particles of cookware body material also enter your body. This is the reason why cookware loses weight after continuous use. Therefore this is both good & bad for your health. Therefore this is a very important factor in buying a tawa.
   1. Cast Iron: Offers excellent heat retention and even heating. It requires some attention while use. You take care about rusting. Never cook in rusted tawa. This cast iron tawa is very heavy. Cast Iron made tawa is the best as compared to any other material tawa. By using this cast iron tawa you get iron element in your body. This is highly recommended.
   2. Non-Stick Coating: Tawa with non-stick coating are easier to clean and require less oil for cooking. However, the coating can deteriorate over time. But you should know that the coating is made of Teflon, a toxic element. Always keep in mind that do not use Teflon coated non-stick pan above 200 degrees Celsius because its coating starts breaking. So it becomes toxic to your health. This is not recommended.

4. Base: Prefer a flat & wide base for stability on the stove. A flat base is good for capture heat accurately.
5. User Friendly : Prefer such tawa that has a study & heat resistant handle. A long handle for a tawa is always easy to use. Non stick coated tawa is easy to use but some time due to a little bit negligency your cooking chapati will be very toxic. It is easy to use a non-stick coated tawa but sometimes this happens due to a little carelessness. Your cooked chapati will become very poisonous. If you continue to use this pan even after the Teflon coating breaks.
6. Compatibility: Make sure your tawa is compatible with your cooking appliances. Some tawa are especially designed for only gas stove while others work well on induction cooktops.
7. Maintenance : Consider tawa that goes with the low maintenance. Non sticky tawa needs to high care while washing due to breakage of Teflon element. Once it gets break then it may case serious issue.
